Claire Oil Painting, part 1

 

I've started work on an oil painting portrait "Claire"  It's a painting of my daughter.  This is the under-painting.  It's the skeleton of the painting where I work out all the values of the piece.  My daughter was so happy to pose for it.  She got to dress up as a "princess."  

Alice Hicken Oil Painting

I'm working on a Christmas gift for my 99 year old Grandpa.  It's an oil painting of my beautiful grandmother, Alice Hicken.  It's almost complete. Here is the progression. The canvas is 18x24.  This is my first attempt at portrait painting.  It really flew onto the canvas.  I'm surprised by how quickly it's coming together.

I've been working on this acrylic on canvas.  It's 24x30.  I started one direction with it and now I'm not sure where it's going to end up.  It seems to have a mind of it's own.

I've made some progress on this piece.  It's in the weird phase where it doesn't look like much.  Each painting goes through a phase where it looks like it's a big mistake, but it's just part of the journey.

Woman Sketch Study

Woman Sketch by Heidi Ross.  This was a quick pencil on paper sketch.  It's not a self portrait by my kids commented that they think it looks a little like me.
